runDisney Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend Event Guide and Course Maps

This afternoon I received a much-anticipated email from runDisney featuring the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend Event Guide and the course maps for both the 5K and Half Marathon races.

The 5K course looks awesome! We enter Disney California Adventure first, via Paradise Pier, then wind through Cars Land. It's great that we head back towards Paradise Pier for mile 1, because that World of Color backdrop is gorgeous. I love that we're inside the parks for more than 2 miles, utilizing the Esplanade to enter Disneyland Park, which means more ChEARs for us! Once inside Disneyland, we will run up Main Street, through Fantasyland and beside Big Thunder Mountain Railroad while making our way towards my favorite land - New Orleans Square. I'm excited about the possibility of running towards a Nightmare at the Haunted Mansion.

The Avengers Half Marathon course looks like a major improvement over the Disneyland Half Marathon course - completely bypassing the sunny hell that is Ball Road. Although we are only inside the parks for a little over 2 miles, I bet there will be plenty of characters on hand to make those 2 miles pretty spectacular. After that, it's all about making up your time and staying on target with your pace as you run towards the sweet bling that awaits at the finish line.

Seeing the courses really helps me with my costume planning. I know that what I have planned for the 5K will be perfect, but I am rethinking my half marathon costume. Pounding 10 miles of Anaheim pavement in a bustier suddenly doesn't seem so thrilling.

I'm curious, do you plan your costumes far in advance, regardless as to the course details? What do you think of the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon and 5K courses?
