Disney's All-Star Movies Resort Review
With so much travel planned for 2016 I have been wallet-conscientious but not cheap. Comfort, cleanliness, safety and security are not luxuries - they are a necessity when traveling solo or with those you love. That's why I was happy to discover Disney's All-Star Movies Resort on my recent trip to Walt Disney World for Star Wars Half Marathon weekend.
I arrived really late the night I checked in and was exhausted. The Cast Member who checked me in was a total doll and took care of me quickly. She explained that my "preferred room" would be in the Toy Story section of the resort. Very cool because I love Buzz and Woody! I drove my car to my building, unloaded my suitcase and walked into my room.
My room had 2 double beds, was clean and ready for my to move-in. Given that the room rates for this resort can be as low as less than $100 per night, I was really surprised by how spacious the room was. In addition to the two beds there was a table and chairs and typical furnishings such as a nightstand and dresser. There was also a mini-refrigerator beside the dresser.
Whimsical Disney details could be found on the furniture and throughout the room.
I loved the border decoration in the room because I am a HUGE Herbie the Love Bug fan! A Movie themed resort is definitely up my alley!
A feature I really liked, and something I always look for in hotel rooms, was the divider between the vanity and the sleeping area. Whether it's a door, screen or curtain - it's important to me that I not bother others while I'm getting ready early in the morning. I really liked that this resort provides the curtain to separate the dressing area / bathroom / vanity from the sleeping area.
Movie themed tiles and curtain add a touch of fun to the bathroom. Water temperature was spot on and I had no issues whatsoever with water pressure. I appreciate that because I've stayed at very ritzy resorts where the water pressure was a problem. That's no fun!
You'll notice that h2o products are a staple at all Disney resorts. I love the little mickey ears on the bottle cap!
Over-sized characters are the trademark of the All-Star Resorts, and this one has its share of giant movie favorites. Since I was in the Toy Story area of the resort I ran into Buzz, Woody and their friends in the courtyard outside my building.
The decor at this resort is super cute and you can't help but smile as you walk around. Other areas of the resort have giant Dalmatians, and there's even a large Sorcerer Mickey at the Fantasia Pool.
The food court was open the morning of the half marathon which was awesome! I dropped in for coffee and a croissant. Later that morning I came in for breakfast. I had eggs, bacon and a Mickey waffle. I really liked the bright marquees and all the different food offerings. From sweets to salmon - definitely something for everyone.
Transportation to the parks from this resort seemed like it might be slow because this resort is the furthest of all the All-Star Resorts, but in actuality it was consistent and timely. I used the resort bus to get to Magic Kingdom on Dapper Day with no delays. Coming back from Epcot and Hollywood Studios was OK as well, although it seems like there is always a long wait in the bus area at Epcot. That could be because of the International Flower and Garden Festival.
Would I recommend Disney's All-Star Movies Resort? Yes. This resort is great for solo travelers as well as families. Disney's All-Star Resorts are categorized as "Value" resorts but you still get the same perks for staying here as you do at any other resort.
